Sebastian Deri: NDSEG Fellowship Winner

Sebastian Deri is interested in the false beliefs almost all of us have about our everyday world (for example: studies show that well over 50% of people believe they are better leaders than 50% of people, and nationally representative surveys indicate that over 10% of American believe 9/11 was intentionally orchestrated by the US government). How do people come to hold these beliefs? To answer this question, Sebastian takes an interdisciplinary approach — incorporating experimental methods from social psychology as well as methods from computational social science.
